The next meeting will be in the next two weeks which will be on October fifteenth! The cabinet members were all very glad to see a huge amount of people come and listen to the presentation and they all hope that it will be a great year.
Mayfair Club Rush
AL, Mayfair, D13N
>What's swinging Mayfair monkeys, my name is Arielle Arreola and I represent ½ of your board’s vice presidents. On September 12 we had our club rush here at Mayfair. We had a great table where we gave out candy to those who signed up. We had information flyers where we explained the introduction to Key Club and handed those out away, giving out our Instagram so they could get new information whenever it came out. While people were signing up we were also letting people know about the club meeting the following day. We also took so many pictures with our frames we had some of our board members taking these pictures and some of the pictures were taken of the new/recurring members who signed up. Overall the turnout was amazing, it was so much fun meeting new interested members and also seeing our recurring members. Thank you so much to those who turned up and signed up!! See you soon.
RTC
SM, CAMS, D19N
>On Saturday, October 5th, Region 8 gathered at Mayfair High School to attend the Region Training Conference. The Division leadership team from all divisions arrived earlier to help set up the decorations and presentations. Around 10:30 AM, members from all divisions started registering and paying the fee. At around 11 AM, the first session for presentations started, and after around 20-30 minutes, the second presentation also started. At around 1 PM, everyone gathered in the dining area to eat delicious Italian food from one of our sponsors. Throughout the lunch period, the clubs from various divisions hosted a service expo which entertained the members to be interactive but have fun at the same time. After eating, some of the DLT members started decorating the bleachers in the gymnasium for the RTC spirit sessions while the rest of the members started the third presentation session. After the presentations, the divisions started practicing the chants for the spirit sessions around the high school. When the RTC session started and the different divisions entered the gymnasium, it was filled with enthusiasm and energy. Throughout the chants, the divisions cheered each other on creating a sportsmanship-like atmosphere while having a good competition. After announcing the winners, the Division 13 South Ninjas, all members have left with new memories from this year's RTC.
STEMsters
EA, Walnut, D35E
On Friday, October 4th, Walnut Key Clubbers volunteered for an event for Stemsters. Key Clubbers volunteered at a church, where they taught kids about the properties of hydraulics, assisting them in building a hydraulic bridge made of popsicle sticks and cardboard. The volunteers were able to present a set of slides, teaching the lesson to the children, and giving instructions for building the hydraulic bridge. The Key Clubbers were then able to work one-on-one with any of the children who needed help with their model. While teaching the children at the church, Key Clubbers were also able to learn about the basic properties of hydraulics, all the while gaining social skills by talking and teaching the children. Walnut Key Club officer, Esmond Au stated, “I had a fun time talking with and helping the kids make their own hydraulic bridges.” After making their models, the children were able to take home their hydraulic bridges as a reminder of their lesson on hydraulics.
Pinoy Pride
JSD, Spring Valley, D28S
The event was so fun! We were mostly tasked with helping clean up tables, but I was also tasked with helping carry the baby Jesus statue (also known as Santo Nino) across the festival during the parade! It was heavy and my arm did hurt a bit, but all in all, it was great! Besides that, the food was really good. Me and a few people shared drinks and definitely got our money’s worth with getting free refills from the stand! We also bought Hawaiian and Filipino food with our free food vouchers! Also, there were really good performances there! The main ones I saw were 4th Impact, a Filipina group, and Vice Ganda! Overall, I can’t wait for the next time Pinoy Pride rolls around and will definitely volunteer again!
