Kiwanis Dinner

I had such a fun time connecting with the Kiwanis club at our Denny’s dinner! I was a little nervous about running our other event this month was a fundraiser dinner with our local Kiwanis club. We have dinners like these every school year and they’re always a lot of fun. We got to meet all the club members and raise some funds for the key club as well as discuss our past service projects, what we plan to accomplish this year, and how we could collaborate in the future. They also bought us food so that was awesome. It was nice getting to connect with all these older folks in our community and good to know there are that many more people dedicated to serving the community. Overall it was a blast and I’d love to do a dinner like this again.
Bulb Fundraiser Packaging

One of our projects that we started this month was packaging flower bulbs to sell as a fundraiser. We were supplied our Kiwanis Club with bags, a stamp, and the bulbs, and everyone had a lot of fun participating. Fellow officer Elise Henson said they “were having fun spending time with our school community”. Other members also said the project was very nice, easy, and fun. We don't know where all the money from the fundraiser will go quite yet, but that decision will be made very soon. For now we’re just having fun enjoying each other’s company while giving back.
Turkey Trot

The turkey trot was a delightful event I was able to experience. Waking up early in the morning and helping prepare breakfast for the runners was successful. Working with the Kiwanis and the Riverbend staff went smoothly as they guided our members with smiles and amazing attitudes. I was able to set up tables, containers, as well as cook the sausages and supervise our members cooking pancakes.
Breakfast With Santa

I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer at the Breakfast with Santa event on December 3rd at the Modesto Senior Center. This event allowed me and many others to meet some wonderful people who had donated to Kiwanis and were able to meet some new members from our club. I helped people get their plates to their tables and also made sure that everyone felt happy. This event allowed me to make someone’s day better and that fills me with happiness. I loved seeing the Stanislaus Circle K Club being there as well! This event was a success and I’m glad that D46N was able to take part in it and hope to do this again!
Boys and Girls Club Carnival
D05S, EDM, Buchanan
Buchanan Key Club held a carnival alongside the Pinedale Boys and Girls Club for the members of the Boys and Girls Club. We set up carnival games and even had a bouncy castle for the carnival. The kids would get tickets if they won the games and that would go into a raffle held at the end of the event. Our members helped monitor the games and make sure everything was going to plan. After the carnival games we held a basketball tournament that was pretty exciting! We held a raffle with the prize of a free iPad with wifi. After we helped the staff clean up once the carnival was over. Overall it was a great event and we are looking forward to the next collaboration with the Pinedale Boys & Girls Club!
