Asian Night Market

CZ, West CTA, D28W

Asian Night Market was a BLAST and was made successful with the help of WCTA Key Club’s volunteers. Those who came were able to get $10 worth of free, delicious food made by local AAPI vendors here in the valley. Besides Gyu Sandos, Shang Mian, Cafe Maiko, and the International Market, the 4000+ visitors at ANM had fun with carnival games, watching performances, and of course, hanging with friends.

Club Rush Preparation

GG, Enochs Key Club, D46N

The members of Enoch's Key Club gathered on Wednesday, August 24, at lunch to get ready for the Club Rush at their school. We created a number of lovely posters and candy-filled invitation cards for this event to help spread the word about our club and draw new members. While decorating and attaining service hours, members got to interact and bond with one another. Attendees especially enjoyed eating the leftover candies! The posters were later collected to be hung around the walls of buildings at our school and at our booth at Club Rush. We look forward to seeing new faces at our upcoming general meetings!

Officer Training Conference

AU, Enochs Key Club, D46N

One sunny Saturday morning, on July 16, D46N and D46S Key Club Officers attended the Division 46 Officer Training Conference event digitally via Zoom. The OTC was hosted by D46N and D46S Lieutenant Governors Zoei Quach and Anna Friess. The first order of business during the event was getting everyone comfortable, so the LTGs made a fun game for the officers to partake in the form of a quiz to find out which LTG you most resembled. Afterwards, the officers were told to join one of three workshop options for every session, for a total of three sessions. I attended the Safekey workshop, Member Recruitment workshop, and Editor workshop. In the Safekey workshop, the D46N Historian taught us the importance of being safekey in various environments. In the Member Recruitment workshop, the D46N Webmaster taught us the importance of actively recruiting new members into Key Club and the benefits it entails. In the Editor workshop, the D46N News Editor informed us about the tasks and responsibilities that come with every editing position in Key Club, including News Editors, Historians, and Webmasters. I believe the event was well-organized and thoughtfully put together, as I and many other Key Club officers reported to have learned important and beneficial material.

July DCM & Color-a-Smile

WL, Enochs Key Club, D46N

On July 18, members across Division 46 North came together for the monthly DCM. The DCM was hosted by Grace Davis High School at Davis Park. 4 people attended representing Enochs Key Club–1 member, 2 officers, and 1 Kiwanis Advisor. The DCM went accordingly with roll call, submission information, monthly recognition, and old/new business. Some notable division updates were Publicity Committee applications, Spirit Committee announcements, a Division Recycling Competition, and more. After the DCM ended, we were given a chance for service by coloring Color-A-Smile pages. Through this, we could gain up to an hour and a half of service and it was a great chance to talk to the people around us. I highly recommend going to the DCMs as it’s a great way to receive updates in advance and a great way to meet people from other schools!

Balboa Park 8 Miler

NR, Mt. Carmel, D37S

During the Balboa 8-Miler race, Mt. Carmel key club was responsible for one of the water station, where we had to set up table and water cups, hand the water and drinks to runners, and clean up the roads. Volunteering at the water station helped runners, because without hard working volunteers, their experience in the race wouldn't have been as enjoyable. Not only was it a pleasure to see the gratitude of runners as they grabbed for a cup of water, but this was also an amazing opportunity to bond with other members in the club. Being an underclassmen representative, and new to my position, I made sure to get as many of my friends involved, and everyone had a great time. One of the main things I took away from this service event was organization. When we first got there, we had to organize the tables and cups as time-efficient as possible, and it wouldn't have worked out if we didn't have a plan in mind. Even in the midst of chaos, where water was running low, and runners were coming quickly, we had to use our time wisely and fill up as many cups as we could. It was definitely a learning experience for all of us, but we all had fun watching the joy of runners!
