CHAMPS Tap Cards
CL, CHAMPS, D16S
CHAMPS Key Club members received new free city TAP cards! These cards will allow us to travel across the city via public trains and buses for free, giving us access to many new service projects. We have already made plans to use the cards to travel to Santa Monica to do beach cleanups in the upcoming months. These cards allow us to both travel as a group and also reduce our carbon footprint by using public transportation. This is a part of our mission to contribute responsibility and resourcefulness to our environment and learn how to be mindful citizens.
August DCM
KS, D03S
For the August DCM, members from each school in the division showed up, which made the event very enjoyable. We started with an ice breaker where we would create a sentence by having each person say a word. Then, we grouped up into random groups to create a poster for each school. This poster was created as promotional material to be used during Club Rush for each school. This event was a great bonding experience because not only were we able to interact with other members of our division, but we also had the opportunity to work together to create these posters. I enjoyed seeing so many members show up and come together to work on this project. To wrap it up, we showcased the posters we made for the respective schools and used it during our Club Rush.

AOC7 Neighborhood Clean-Up
TS, Wilson High School, D13S
The AOC7 Neighborhood showcased our members ability to work cohesively with not only each other, but members of other organizations to benefit the community. The event started with a cleanup of the neighborhood surrounding a school where we removed waste ranging from fast food containers to diapers to a rusted out saw blade. After everything was safely disposed of, our members began their work cleaning up the Franklin Middle school campus by helping to remove weeds, and sweep up large amounts of dust and rocks left over from renovations. Our members worked with volunteers from several different organizations to accomplish this feat, and all in all it was a blast to work with such amazing people towards creating a more beautiful and safe environment for the students and families in the area.
Aloha Run
FIC, Bellflower High School, D13N
On August 21, the Bellflower Key Club participated in Division 13 North's Aloha Run service event at Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach, California. It was a fun run with a Hawaiian theme from the 1980's, with themed live music and dancing. The Aloha Run was the first club event I ever attended. I was nervous as I entered the venue. But a lot of people approached me, and I gained a lot of new friends in a short period of time! Before we were assigned to our tasks, we were handed volunteer shirts. We cheered on the Aloha Run runners while other members assisted at the water stations, registration, pre-race check-in, and other tasks. We gave the runner's high fives to encourage them to keep going till they reached the finish line. We thanked them for their participation; it was a tremendous feeling to be able to help people who helped make the Aloha Run possible. Aloha Run definitely gave me an extraordinary first club event, a memory to treasure, and people to cherish!
