Mid-Autumn Festival
ML, Rosemead, D10S
September is the month of the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival. Every year, the street of Valley Blvd is closed down, and opens the annual Moon Festival Celebration. With such a big event comes great need of help! The Moon Festival Service event had a total of three shifts, and volunteers could earn a total of 12 service hours and 12 points. Our first shift was from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm. The second shift was from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Lastly, the third shift was from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Our Rosemead Key Clubbers began by helping set up the decorations all around the street. They hung up paper lanterns, as well as helped set up paper trash boxes for people to toss their trash in. Our volunteers help set up many backdrops for people to take pictures with. As things began settling, our volunteers helped guide people in need of help throughout the Moon Festival. At the end of the night, our key clubbers helped clean up the trash and dispose of the trash boxes and bags. Our volunteers took down the backdrops and lanterns spread throughout. This service event was filled with fun tasks, and exciting activities to help with, and all of us are so excited for next year’s Moon Festival!
