Ronald McDonald House
SC, Desert Oasis, D28S
The Ronald McDonald event was a unique experience where my friends and I participated in a community service of feeding families of the partnerships. The day began prepping the three-course meal, starting off with the salad. We later moved onto the entree where we made parmesan chicken pasta. The dessert was a type of Italian cookie that smelled delicious! We packaged the food all together at the end and separated into the allocated bags for each family. While the service event was around four hours, the time flew by. We were constantly cooking, baking, and cleaning, so the time spent was productive. Having my friends there also made the experience that much more fun and memorable.
D22K Urban Garden Center
JN, Pearl City, D22K
In the middle of the winter season on February 8th, Pearl City Key Club excitedly went back to one of their favorite events at the Urban Garden Center across of Home Depot! In their recurring Second Saturday at the Garden event, the Urban Garden crew were expecting a good amount of plant-lovers to show up for a nice walkthrough of all the nature workshops that were being hosted. With that, help was needed to set up tents and tables which the Key Clubbers quickly got on working as soon as they arrived. During a little intermission, members visited one of the booths that was giving seed lessons through an awesome art activity. With tiny paper canvases, they painted unique and beautiful artworks with the red, yellow, brown, and gray watercolors made out of dirt. They took their masterpieces with them as they continued to help out with the project, eventually reaching to the end where they folded and stored everything up.
