Albany Crab Feed
AL, Albany, D02N
In January, Albany Key Club volunteered at the Albany Lions Crab Feed. It was a success, with many members going and lots of money raised for our club through tips! We served the food and waited on the customers, who were very generous. In addition, we helped run a raffle and set up/clean up, making sure that everything was organized and clean. We hope to be able to return to the Lions Crab Feed next year to be able to help out again!
January DCM
LN, Baldwin Park, D35W
Oh what fun it is to… participate in the January DCM at a Cultural Center?!?! On January 18th, seven of our members had the opportunity to learn about Taiwanese culture before the New Year and got to participate in many of the activities the Cultural Center offered, such as calligraphy and putting together paper replicas of traditional headwear! Our members also got to bond with one another and put together care packages for those who have suffered from the local wildfires.
Pasadena Symphony
ML, Rosemead, D10S
January is the start of new beginnings and...NEW SERVICES!! On January 25th, our Key Clubbers helped volunteer at Pasadena Symphony. The Pasadena Symphony is a professional orchestra based in Pasadena. The symphony presents a variety of concerts throughout the year featuring guest artists and conductors. This event consisted of one shift from 6:15 PM to 10:30 PM. Volunteers could earn a total of 4.24 service hours and 4.25 Key Club points. At this event, our Key Clubbers helped with set up, clean up, and ushering guests. For set up, there were tasks like straightening the seats, tables, and making sure everything was in order. At the beginning of the concert as well as throughout the concert, our volunteers helped usher guests to their correct seats and made sure they were comfortable. At the end of the night, our Key Clubbers helped clean up and pick up any trash left behind to keep everything spotless. This event was truly thrilling for all our Key Clubbers, being able to watch an orchestra perform and to be able to listen to the wonderful music and festivities.
SCVMUN Volunteering
MN, D12S
Every year, our school hosts a huge conference for Model UN called SCVMUN, which brings in hundreds of students from all around the Bay Area and event students who fly in from Italy to participate! Though, an event like this takes a lot of work, which is where our members come in to volunteer -- whether that’s working as pagers in different rooms full of dozens of delegates, or running the snack shack. This is my second year volunteering to help at SCVMUN, and it never fails to be an insightful, and fun event to observe and help at. As a room pager, it’s so interesting to see people my age come up with resolutions for real world problems, and work together in such a formal setting. Although the shifts might be long, (I was there from 5 - 10 PM) they can fly by when you’re interacting with so many new people, and learning so many new things at the same time!
rFebruary Social
AC, Buchanan, D05N
At Division 05 North’s February Social, we made pipe cleaner flower bouquets for our service project. Additionally, we filmed a video for Region 18’s HCON, wishing them a fun, engaging, and eventful convention. Our Division Leadership Team also filmed a video for our Krispy Kreme fundraiser for PTP and Yes! Initiative, encouraging our members to support the cause. We discussed Key Leader camp, Conclave, and upcoming service projects. At the end, we took pictures of our Division members and gathered the pipe cleaner flowers we made to form our bouquet, which we will eventually donate to an organization or facility. Overall, it was a great event that allowed our members, officers, and DLT to socialize and interact with each other while completing a creative service project!
